Leon, a six-month old baby, is placed into the care of Enid & Jim Frazer, after his father commits suicide and his mother, subsequently, abandons him. At the hands of his new "carers", he emerges, gradually, into a world of self-loathing- the result of physical and emotional torture. Shortly after his fourteenth birthday, on the verge of being psychologically destroyed, he decides to run - and run he does - into the unknown. His meeting with Jamie, a seemingly caring and protective role-model, throws him into a life of new, hitherto, unimaginable horrors, of a type that very few will ever experience - or even fully comprehend. Join Leon on the emotionally traumatic journey of a child struggling to survive a life of beatings and rape in a desperate attempt to find somebody - anybody - who will love and care for him.
Leon - A lost childhood is a journal which documents the events which unfolded on the evening of September 19th 1989.
The photo above was taken six days prior to my disappearance. I had just turned fourteen. I can't help but transfix on that innocent smile, the purity, still visible on the surface. Underneath the flesh of that innocent boy, looking back at you, is a tired fractured mind, almost destroyed by the 'Carers' who hid in plain sight. On the surface they were a family, who took me in as a long term foster placement. Why were they so full of hatred & toxicity towards my very existence? I can't believe how desperate I was to escape their evil clutches. Clawing to survive, already exhausted from trying to exhale their dark energy, I still clutched on to the dream of a life free of misery, that was right up until my last night. On the 16 year anniversary of this book being released, I am now ready. My name is Leon and am a child trafficked SURVIVOR.
